Summer Away From Home

My sketch of an old church in Bombay where the old caretakers did not even allow me to sit on their spare chair.
May 2017
A self portrait rendered in a crowded cafe in the by-lanes of an old market. I was wearing my favourite linen shirt.
"Well this mirror really does flatter me..."
This sketch resulted as an effort to somehow fit an entire lanky palm tree in my sketchbook. It was and still remains a reminder of my time spent by the sea.
Portrait of my sister as we sat and waited for our food in a noisy cafe in Kala Ghoda in Bombay. The blue area shows the noise of conversation and the red was the songs the cafe managers insisted on playing loudly.
An idle sketch of my own hand holding another small sketchbook and a new sketch pen i had acquired. I remember being super happy because my sister had agreed to let me use her watch for a day.
I was waiting for my sister to get finished up with her work and the entrance caught my eye. I found it very interesting because the blue of the wood was in direct contrast with the divider and the ever so frequent autos passing by. Whenever a person crossed the doors, it almost seemed like watching a stop-motion animation.
This started out as a wonky few lines on my phone screen and later developed into this form. It is a visual representation of my state of mind that time. Humans being trapped in bubbles, humans willingly joining circles, going around in circles only to realise you're reaching no where and viewing the world through your own lens.
According to the sixteen year old me, this was 'poodling'.
Quick sketch of a man in a bus. It was the first time I had been allowed to board a public bus all by myself.
